Using Information Technology to Support Teaching and Learning
Access to and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) are of primary concern for educators in all APEC economies.
For a number of reasons, ICT has been high on the list of virtually every APEC member's education reform agenda. First, ICT is viewed as a powerful way to expand and extend quality educational opportunities to those who may not otherwise have access to quality teachers and curricular materials, especially students in poor and rural areas. Second, because of ICT's ubiquitous position in the information economy, the ability to use ICT is essential for citizens, and schools have the potential to use ICT to make teaching and learning much more effective.
