APEC 2003 eLearning Summit - The APEC 2003 eLearning Summit was a three-day congregation of about two hundred of innovators in Asia and the Pacific regions - including scholars, entrepreneurs, educational administrators, and teachers in the field of eLearning. Summit participants explored emerging application strategies and possible cooperation in integrating technology into education. It is anticipated that there will be a follow-up to this successful Summit in 2004.
APEC International Youth Camp - An on-line and in-person opportunity promoting international exchange and to provide a cooperative-learning forum for APEC member youths. The 2004 Youth Camp is organized by Chinese Taipei's National Youth Commission.
APEC Learning Standards for English and Other Languages - This project aims at analyzing and comparing the language learning standards being used in APEC economies towards reaching an agreement of common standards and the best practices to promote them. This will facilitate increased mutual support and sharing of resources. Avoiding duplication of efforts and expenses will be beneficial to all economies involved in wide-scale teaching of English and other languages as foreign languages.
Strategic Action Plan for English and other Languages in the APEC Region - In response to the directive of the 16th Ministerial Meeting (Nov 2004) which instructed Senior Officials, through the SOM Committee on ECOTECH, to oversee the work to be developed by EDNET from HRD WG, to establish a Strategic Action Plan for English and other Languages in the APEC Region, aimed at creating competitive human capital.
e-Learning Stratigic Plan (Cyber Academy) - This project expands access to the internet infrastructure throughout the APEC regions and reduces the access gap among different student groups in rural and urban areas in APEC economies, improves access to innovative educational content using internet in pre-K through adult education, improves teachers and education leaders capacity to use technology to improve education through access to quality training, addresses the quality assurance, legal and policy issues raised in implementing eLearning efforts across APEC, promotes efficiency and reduce duplication of effort among APEC economies through joint research and development activities, and strengthens coordination across APEC fora and with the private and foundation sectors throughout the region.
